At Canopy, we build software designed for pilots who value independence, security, and privacy. Because our app operates local-first, your personal data stays under your control at all times.
1. Information We Collect
Canopy is an offline-first iOS application. When you record or import flights (TCX, GPX, or IGC tracks):
- GPS Tracks & Location Data: Track logs, elevation files, and coordinates are calculated and saved exclusively on your local device. We do not transmit or store this data on our servers.
- Personal Information: We do not require you to create an account or sign up to use the logbook core functionality.
- Analytics: If you enroll in Apple TestFlight or check diagnostic feedback, Apple may share basic crash reports with us under their standard terms. No individual flight path parameters are ever exposed.
2. Data Storage
All logbook data, equipment metadata, and flight reflection notes are stored securely on your iPhone using local SwiftData database frameworks. Your information remains completely isolated on your sandbox partition.
3. Third Party Services
Canopy does not integrate third-party ad SDKs or trackers. If you manually use the iOS share sheet to send a flight trace file to another app or service, that transmission is governed entirely by the privacy policy of the destination platform.
4. Your Rights and Control
Since your logbook data is saved completely on your physical iPhone, you can erase, change, or export it at any time. Simply navigate to settings inside the app to initiate a full backup export as a standardized zip folder containing CSV and TCX files.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our privacy policies periodically to account for new native capabilities. Any updates will be reflected in-app and posted directly to this static page.
